The Lennon Wall in Prague has been filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti and pieces of lyrics from Beatles' songs. It was once a source of irritation for the communist regime of Gustáv Husák, and young Czechs wrote grievances on the wall, which eventually led to a clash between students and security police. The movement these students followed was described ironically as "Lennonism" in those days.
In 2014, the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, the wall was painted over in pure white by a group of art students, leaving only the text "wall is over" (a reference to the “war is over”). Later it was covered with graffiti all over again and the "wall is over" bit has been changed to "war is over."
In the list, you’ll find 10 of the most inspiring street arts of the century, which were influenced heavily by the previous generation’s iconic song lyrics and also by their dreams!
