23 Valid Reasons To Make Your Bed Every Single Day!


You can deal with hundreds of things in a day but still proscrinate to make your bed. It happens. But here are some reasons to change your perspective.

1. Making your bed is a simple habit.

30 seconds can sound like a lot when you're still snoozing, but starting your day with a small accomplishment is worth the extra time.

2. U.S. Navy Adm. William H. McRaven says if you want to change the world, you should start by making your bed.

"If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day,'' he said in a commencement speech at the University of Texas. "It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed."

3. Leaving your bed messy can stunt your overall productivity.

"When you leave your bedding in a messy heap, you will tend to muddle through the day until it’s time to fall back in to bed again," Karen Kingston, Feng Shui and Clutter expert says.

4. It's one habit that can actually lead to other good habits.

"Making your bed every morning is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of well-being, and stronger skills at sticking with a budget" wrote Charles Duhigg in his book, The Power of Habit.

When the covers are pulled up during the day, less dust and allergens can get between your sheets. Not to mention pet hair...

A poll from the National Sleep Foundation found that people who reported making their beds also reported better sleep overall.

"If you can't do the little things right, you'll never be able to do the big things right. And if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made — that you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better," said Adm. McRaven.
