This Color-Changing Hair Dye Proves That We're Living In The Future!

This hair dye is the brainchild of the European firm called The Unseen.  Debuted during London Fashion Week, the dye, called "Fire," can change colors depending on the temperature!

The dyes give you two colors

The pairs come in black (cold) to red (hot), black to white, silver to blue, blue to white, and black to yellow and can be removed after a few washes.

The dye uses thermochromic ink, modified so that it's safe for contact with the skin.

The dye works using a complex carbon-based molecule, which undergoes a reversible reaction with itself when the temperature is changed. Above a certain temperature, “one of the molecule‘s forms is more stable than the other, and so a reaction takes place producing a molecule with a slightly different absorption of light, and thus a different colour,” said The Unseen.

“Magic is only science that we don’t understand yet,” Lauren Bowker, founder of The Unseen

While the allure of color-changing hair is obvious, Bowker says that the real hope is that it will encourage young women to get involved with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

“I really believe it's a great example of a product that celebrates women in science and to encourage young females to see the opportunity for creativity within science and engineering - bringing sci-fi to real life!”
