This Overwatch 2 Bug Is Letting Players Escape Mei’s Ice Wall Ability
Mei is one of those characters you don't want to come across in a match because of her slowing and freezing abilities. Just recently, a player discovered a bug that makes her Ice Wall ability useless.
Ever since the release of Overwatch 2, all of Mei's abilities have been a pain in the arse. Players always find themselves struggling with her when pushing payloads, targeting enemy supports, and even finishing off low-health players.
Since the game's initial release, it has received countless negative reviews citing bugs, long queues of 20,000+ players, and disconnection issues. Many players also voiced displeasure with the game's new lineup mechanics, such as limiting the team to only one tank. I mean, seriously, Blizzard? Also, if you Google Overwatch 2 reviews, you'll see that the majority of them are negative and focus on the 'one tank per team' issue.
Although it's almost impossible to say how significantly it impacted the Mei players, it's clear that the latest bug hampered their ability to perform well and could presumably tip the game in the opposing team's favor.
A certain Redditor going by the name -Snackles- has discovered a bug that renders Mei’s Ice Wall ability completely useless in trapping enemies to a certain location. They posted a video showing their disdain towards this weird bug that was letting players phase through Mei’s Ice Wall and instantly teleports them above it. The reason why this bug is so annoying for Mei users is because her abilities are based on cryo powers, especially her ice wall that’s intended to block enemies from killing teammates and capturing certain objectives.
In the clip posted above, we can see that a Mei player used her ice wall ability to prevent the enemies from capturing the objective in the map Lijiang Tower (Undercroft). We could clearly see that the wall blocked off Soldier 76, Orissa, and Mercy, but it instantly teleported them to the wall’s surface and it let them escape. The Mei player must have been so mad, but at least the ice wall totally blocked incoming projectiles from the enemies on the other side of the wall.
Sadly, this isn't the only example of an Overwatch 2 player ranting over a character's bug. Mei isn't the only one who has bugged abilities, as a variety of bugged skills have also arisen for other characters such as Bastion, who was temporarily removed from the game. Bastion had a game-breaking bug in which his ultimate had an infinite number of mortar barrages, making it like a cluster strike killstreak coming from Call of Duty.
Despite the negative feedback on Overwatch 2, fans remain optimistic and eagerly await the game's full potential. Fingers crossed, the game's glitches and bugs will have been ironed out and complaints addressed, allowing us to return to getting that pentakill with our favorite heroes.
