Prime Video’s ‘A League of Their Own’: Plot Summary, Cast, Release Date & Trailer

Amazon Prime Video hasn’t been playing at work this year. The streamer has been delivering awesome shows after shows, with A League of Their Own being the most recent on the list. 

The series is an adaptation of the 1992 film of the same title. Will the adaptation hit more than its predecessor?

A League Their Own of 1992 narrates a tale of a true All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball league that went for a few seasons during WWII, concentrating on the Rockford Peaches, particularly the team’s manager and a pair of sisters. 

The adaptation revises its predecessor, intending to widen its scope. A League of Their Own 2022 revives Penny Marshall’s joyful spirit while narrating the story of an inter-generational group of women who dream of becoming professional baseball players.

The late Penny Marshall directed the original movie with Lori Petty, Tom Hanks, Geena Davis Rosie, and Madonna O’Donnell as the stars. 

The series is now being revived as a TV show, created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson.

Jacobson and Graham incorporated both old and new faces in the adaptation, such as Chanté Adams of A Journal for Jordan as Max, Gbemisola Ikumelo of Sex Education as Clance, D’Arcy Carden of Barry as Greta, Nick Offerman of Pam & Tommy as Dove, Roberta Colindrez of Vida as Lupe, Alex Désert of Swingers as Edgar, Saida A. Ekulona of Better Call Saul as Toni, Priscilla Delgado of Julieta as Esti, and Kate Berlant of Search Party as Shirley.

Other characters include Don Fanelli of Broad City as Alan, Lil Frex as Ana, Nat Faxon of Gaslit as Marshall, Rae Gray as Terri, Dale Dickey of Claws as Beverly, Melanie Field of You as Jo, Molly Ephraim of Last Man Standing as Maybelle and Aaron Jennings of Insecure as Guy. Jacobson also portrayed himself as Carson.

A League of Their Own launches on Friday, August 12th, exclusively on Prime Video, with all eight episodes available for streaming. 

The streamer’s teaser trailer displays bits of what viewers should expect in the show, while the official trailer showcases the struggles of the main players as they strive to be true to themselves and prove as great baseball players.
