This movie is an adaptation of the lesser-known novella 'Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption' by Frank Darabont. Its story was adapted and enhanced by Stephen King. Also, it was also directed by the said writer of the adapted novel. 

This movie stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne, a banker who is convicted because of murdering his wife and her lover because of circumstantial evidence. He was doomed to spend his day inside the Shawshank Penitentiary. In the movie, a world-weary smuggler of contraband named Red was played by Morgan Freeman. 

Shawshank might be very dark to some of its audiences but it uplifts the story of Andy Dufresne. He refused to quit or lose hope even though he was in the middle of the most depressing and devastating circumstances. He's the main character of this movie. However, it was Freeman who got the spotlight both in person and through his iconic narration.

The Shining by Stanley Kubrick is derived from one of the remarkable novels by Stephen King. This story is about the tale of a man named Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson). He is a winter caretaker for the luxurious Overlook Hotel in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. 

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining was born from what might be King's most famous novel, which told the tale of a man named Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) - another of King's struggling writers with a pronounced dark side. Torrance serves as winter caretaker for the remote, luxurious Overlook Hotel in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. 

Because of the influence of the supernatural environment and cabin fever, Jack tries to murder gus family so they would join the many restless souls. These souls are trapped inside the Overlook's walls. And the only one standing in the hotel's way is Jack's young son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), whose psychic gifts the hotel both craves and fears.

This film became very popular and it was praised by many. It is because of the combination of the twists of this adaptation and the supernatural nature of the hotel. It is very unique and creative for many viewers. The team behind this film is very creative especially because of the shots and the camera. Its camera trick and cinematography make this film more realistic. It was one of the greatest horror film of all time. 

Its gross box-office income was $46.5 million. You can watch this film on HBO Max or you can rent to watch this on different platforms.

The perfect combination of King Stephen's novel and Rob Reiner's adaptation really works. The story of this film was one of the best works of Stephen King. Misery features the main character, Paul Sheldon. This role was played by James Caan. Paul is a troubled novelist who is rescued by a nurse named Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) from a car crash. Their first meeting is really different from what happened next. 

Annie Wilkes claimed that she is Sheldon's 'number one fan' and she uses it as an opportunity to trap Sheldon in her cabin and force him to write a new book that will destroy his most famous character, Misery Chastain. From a savior, Annie turned out to be the villain. Watch this film and find out if Sheldon can escape or how he will escape from being trapped. 

The film was very impressive. Its gross box office income was $61 million.

The teen horror drama, Carie, was derived from the many iconic novels of the legendary writer, Stephen King. It's a combination of horror, macabre, fantasy, and science fiction. This novel was the first published novel of the said writer. Carie was King's big break as a writer in 1974 and after two years, it became one of the best films based on his work. 

This film was released in 1976 and it became very popular. No wonder why in 2013, a remake of this iconic movie was released. It is about a tormented teenage girl with telekinetic powers named Sissy Spacek. She is a prototypical awkward teenage girl who suffers from bullying during her high school years. She discovers that she has psychokinetic powers when she's upset. You should find out what happened when she was bullied and became a victim of a cruel prank at her prom. 

This movie became very successful and it gained $33.8 million in gross box office income in 1976. Also, a gross box office income of $84.7 million was gained from its remake last 2013. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime Video.

The film Dr. Sleep was a modern horror miracle. It is a brutal combination of The Shining, The Hedge Maze, Twins, and the Various Ghouls. It was directed by Mike Flanagan who merges the world of King's prose and Kubrick's cinematic vision. It's a must-watch fantastic film that will surely give you goosebumps. 

The gross box office income of this film is around $71 million. You can watch the said film on Netflix or Tubi (w/ ads).

Unfortunately, Netflix doesn't currently provide any King films for streaming, such as The Outsider or Castle Rock. The Stand is available on Paramount+, Castle Rock is available on Hulu, and The Outsider is available on HBO. Peacock also offers a stream of Mr. Mercedes.
