TikTok's Content Suggestion Algorithm: How Does It Work?
Have you ever wonder how TikTok offers you all kinds of interesting content? TikTok explained how ‘’For You’’ algorithm works.
TikTok always gives us contents and suggestions that are interesting and may be relevant to us. But, how does it do that?
A new post on TikTok's official blog explains how the 'For You' section works. The blog says:
‘’In TikTok, we want people to feel empowered to create, connect and engage. That's why we're building features, tools and resources to empower creators and viewers to take control of their experience. Today, we're adding a series of features that help more accurately identify recommended content in For You pages.’’
So, how and according to what TikTok recommends contents to its users?
TikTok’s For You section allows you to discover different ideas of different people, the content creators, the products and most importantly, fun! Including the adjustments for content you have indicated you are not interested in, our systems ranks and highlights videos based on your activity in our app. Our aim is to give you the most fun contents based on your interests.
We're also introducing a new tool in the coming weeks to help users understand why a particular video was recommended to them. So how does this tool work?
Touch ‘Share’ button in your For You page.
Then, touch the ‘Question Mark’ icon named ‘Why this video?’
You’ll see why that video is recommended to you in the page that opens.
TikTok says its recommendation system relies on technical models and that they made this technical systems more understandable.
The video you selected on TikTok may be recommended to you for the following reasons;
User interactions, such as content you watch, liked or shared, comments you posted, or searches
The accounts you follow or recommended accounts
Recenty published contents in your region
Popular contents in your region
