BBC points out that the first of these foods are 'aromatics'.

This includes foods like garlic, ginger, hot peppers, and the like. Kate Hall, also known as 'The Full Freezer,' advises, 'Quickly wash these ingredients. Separate and peel the garlic cloves, then after thoroughly drying them, put them in a ziplock bag and toss it in the freezer.'

'You can grate, chop, or mince them while they're still frozen when you're cooking. You don't even need to peel the ginger.'

Bread is one of the most wasted food items in our homes. Thankfully, bread that is stored in the freezer remains fresh even after it's taken out. If you don't have enough space to store an entire loaf, you can slice it up and freeze the slices. If you still lack space, you can grind stale bread into breadcrumbs and freeze them. These breadcrumbs can be used in dishes like meatballs or crispy fish.

You can apply the same method to flatbreads as well.

Another food item you can store in the freezer is cheese. You can grate hard cheeses and store them in a freezer bag.

Nuts are foods high in fat content. As a result, fluctuations in kitchen temperature can rapidly cause them to turn rancid. However, they can maintain their freshness for an extended period when stored in the freezer. Just take out the amount you plan to consume and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating.

Caution: Never refreeze food items that you've already thawed from the freezer.
