In an interview, Malik said, "When you look back, you see things with new eyes and think, 'Maybe I wasn't in love.'

Continuing, Malik said, "Growing up, I never really had a girlfriend."
' My parents were a bit old-fashioned about these things, so I never brought a girl home. When I finally had the chance, I jumped at it and thought, 'I'm going to have a girlfriend, and she's going to live with me.' I thought that made me a grown man,' reflecting on how inexperienced he was back then.
