Get ready for another breathtaking celestial event this February! After last month's stunning alignment of 6 planets, we're in for an even rarer spectacle—a 7-planet alignment! Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, Venus, and more will align for an extraordinary cosmic display. But when exactly will this 'planetary gateway' happen, and which planets will be part of it? Find out everything you need to know about this rare astronomical phenomenon!

A dazzling planetary alignment that occurred in January will take place again!

This time, seven planets will align in the sky. The rare event, where seven planets form an arc in the sky, is fast approaching. In January, we discussed the alignment of six planets, but this time, Mercury is also involved. So, when will this planetary alignment happen? Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming planetary alignment 👇

When Does the Planetary Alignment Begin?

When Does the Planetary Alignment Begin?

The much-anticipated planetary alignment will occur on February 28, 2025, shortly after sunset.

Which 7 Planets Will Align?

Which 7 Planets Will Align?

In 2025, with this consecutive planetary alignment, seven planets will line up. On February 28, the planets Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, Uranus, and Neptune will align in the sky.

Even more exciting, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will appear brighter than the North Star, the brightest object in the sky.

Uranus and Neptune, however, like the last time, will not be visible to the naked eye but can be observed with a telescope.

How to Watch the Planetary Alignment?

To see the planets more clearly in this rare alignment event, you'll need to be in a dark place, under an open sky, far from city lights. Additionally, throughout February, you can track the movement of the planets with a telescope.

How Does the Planetary Alignment Work? Do the Planets Really Line Up in the Sky?

How Does the Planetary Alignment Work? Do the Planets Really Line Up in the Sky?

As you know, the Solar System has eight main planets, including Earth. All the planets orbit the Sun at different speeds and distances.

The planets are arranged in order of proximity to the Sun as follows: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. This is why Uranus and Neptune are not visible during the alignment event.

Now, let's discuss how the alignment occurs: Due to the different speeds and distances of the planets, sometimes, from Earth's perspective, the planets appear to line up in the sky.

This happens because the planets complete their orbits around the Sun in different durations, causing such alignments to be rare. So, the planets do not form a perfect arc or line in space; it’s just that, from Earth's viewpoint, they appear aligned.

Although February is the month with the most planetary alignments, on April 15, 2025, Neptune, Mercury, Saturn, and Venus will align, and on August 11, 2025, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn will align again.
