The Season Premiere Of The Psychological K-Drama ‘The Sound of Magic’ Arrives On Netflix In May 2022: What We Know So Far

With JTBC Studios as a production partner, Netflix never fails to deliver high-quality Korean dramas. Many JTBC shows are only available worldwide on Netflix, although a few are available globally as well. And now, with their latest K-drama television series, 'The Sound Of Magic,' the team has something new to give us to binge-watch this summer.

Unlike broadcast shows, which are added to Netflix on a weekly basis, The Sound of Magic will receive all of its episodes at once. Some of the other shows JTBC has produced for Netflix exclusively in this manner include D.P. and ‘All of Us Are Dead.’ 

'The Sound of Magic' is a new South Korean streaming television series based on Ilkwon Ha's Naver webtoon 'Annarasumanara.' The fantasy musical drama depicts the narrative of Lee Eul, a mystery magician who appears in front of Yoon Ah-yi, a girl who has lost her dream, and Na Il-deung, a boy who is forced to dream.

‘The Sound of Magic’ arrives on Netflix globally on Friday, May 6th, 2022. ‘The Sound of Magic’ will have a total of 6 episodes.

The first teaser was released on Netflix’s The Swoon YouTube channel on April 11th, 2022 alongside the caption.

“Stumbling upon an abandoned amusement park, a high school student who’s been forced to grow up too early reignites her inner child when her life is once again filled with the wonders of magic.”

Abandoned by her parents because of debt, Yoon Ah Yi supports herself and her younger sister. Despite how busy she is with her part-time job and her studies, Yoon Ah Yi is still one of the top students at the school. All Yoon Ha Yi wishes is to grow up as fast as possible so that she can have a stable job, and when she reveals her dream to the magician Lee Eul, her life is changed forever.

Ji Chang-wook as Lee Eul, A mysterious magician who lives in an abandoned amusement park. He wants to remain as a child even after becoming an adult.

Hwang In-youp as Na Il-deung, A gifted high school student who does not know how to communicate with other people and is just immersed in his studies

Filming began in May 2021, but the project was delayed several times due to parts of the cast and crew testing positive for COVID-19. By September 10th, filming had resumed, and as of January 20th, 2022, filming was officially completed.

‘The Sound of Magic’ is directed by Kim Seong-yoon and written by Kim Min Jeong.
