The Story of the Temple of Apollo

The Story of the Temple of Apollo

The Temple of Apollo has a story that goes back to history. This story is told as follows:

'Medusa is the only mortal of three sisters called the Gorgos. Gorgos is the generic name given in Greek mythology to three sisters, Sihenno, Euryale and Medusa, who have snake hair, scary faces and turn those who look at them to stone. Euryale and Medusa, who had serpent hair and horrible faces and turned those who looked at them to stone. The word 'Gorgo' comes from the Greek word 'Gorgos'. It means 'terrible, terrifying'. For this reason, the Greeks believed that the girls and Medusa, the most well-known among them, had the ability to turn any data they looked at into stone. They engraved the head of Medusa, the snake-headed girl, on their shields, on the objects they wanted to protect, on their buildings, temples and armor.'
