School of the Lynx confirmed in The Witcher 4 teaser
A few days ago, a teaser was released by CD Projekt Red, showing what appears to be a Witcher medallion buried in the snow. The medallion shocked many fans as the medallion did not resemble the one Geralt wore which was from the School of the Wolf. The medallion was confirmed that it wasn’t from the School of the Cat since the ears on the medallion were much longer and thinner. The medallion’s shape was also closer to the appearance of a Lynx.
CD Projekt Red’s community director has posted a tweet that seems to confirm that it is indeed the School of the Lynx. Here is the tweet posted below.
This also implies the possibility of a new protagonist being introduced. Geralt may still appear, but he will most likely be a major supporting character. Many fans believe Ciri is the main protagonist because she previously possessed a Cat school medallion.
There is no School of the Lynx, as players and fans of the Witcher franchise are aware, and there never has been. The Lynx was first mentioned in Witcher fanfiction, but there were many canon schools in the games, including the Bear, Viper, Griffin, Manticore, Crane, Cat, and Wolf. Based on the teaser, it appears that the developers intend to make the Lynx canon as well.
Although we still don't know when the game will be released, we can keep our expectations low for the time being. The medallion could be any of the feline species, but the closest match is the Lynx and the Caracal, which share the same ears on the medallion. There are many other things to be curious about, such as what happened in the Witcher 3 after the White Frost event. Nobody knows what else CD Projekt Red has in store for us, but the medallion will undoubtedly keep our attention.
