Rocket League is getting a limited ‘battle royale’ event
The developers of Rocket League seem to be getting some of their ideas from Fast and the Furious lately, I mean seriously a deathmatch mode with cars? It’s literally ride or die.
Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League, is introducing a new battle-royale event called Knockout Bash mode, in which instead of the normal soccer-like mode, players will try to destroy each other until only one car remains standing.
The limited-time event will run from April 27 to May 10, and will include new maps as well as numerous obstacles for players to avoid.
Players in the new game mode will have three lives instead of the usual infinite lives. The maps will also contain a “kill zone” where players must fight to the death using the new grabbing, attacking, and blocking features.
'We thought it would be fun if each move set juked another, like rock, paper, scissors,' said Psyonix team member Sky Breen. 'This way, it would allow players to outsmart others if they can predict what move someone else plans to use.'
Breen also added that the new mode is “breaking all the rules of Rocket League”, but is hoping that players will enjoy and have fun with the new additions the game mode has to offer.
Psyonix is also planning to add more abilities in Knockout Bash mode to let players immerse in the “Burnout” derby car crash. There’s a high chance that Psyonix will put this as a permanent game mode if players and fans will enjoy the experience. After all, cars are meant to be crashed too, am I right?
