Portal Between New York and Dublin Is Closed Due to Inappropriate Behavior
Last week, a 'portal' was opened between the city of New York in the United States and the capital of the Republic of Ireland, Dublin. Last week, a 'portal' straight out of movies was established between New York and Dublin.
Designed by Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys, the portal design enables people from both cities to communicate with each other instantly.
The purpose of the portal, designed in a circular shape, is to "create a window between distant places."
Gylys, the designer of the portal, stated, 'Portals are an invitation to meet people who transcend boundaries and differences, experiencing our world as it truly is - united and singular.'
Citizens in Dublin and New York initially conveyed messages of love and brotherhood through the portal.
With hundreds of people drawn to the portal and many positive reactions, plans for future simultaneous events were even in the works.
However, the beautiful days of the portal that garnered attention on social media didn't last long.
Despite enabling the transmission of beautiful messages, the portal soon began receiving inappropriate messages. Some started making gestures, using profanity, and displaying inappropriate photos.
To tackle inappropriate behavior, some technical improvements are reportedly underway.
According to BBC reports, statements regarding the portal mentioned, 'While we cannot control all of these actions, we are implementing some technical solutions to address this, and these will be live within the next 24 hours.'
