HBO Max and CBC Renew Sitcom ‘Sort Of’ for a Third Season

HBO Max and CBC have granted a renewal to their captivating Canadian TV series, Sort Of, for the third season weeks after launching season two. Sort Of is a situation-comedy show that landed on CBC in November 2021 for the first season. 

HBO Max later picked up the series, representing the United States and aired its first season a week after it launched on CBC. Sky Comedy and Stan have also adopted Sort Of for the United Kingdom and Australia, respectively.

'Sort Of' Accolades

Over the last two seasons, Sort Of has been enlisted as one of the Best Shows of 2021, thanks to its incredible scores. 

It was also officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival of 2021. Sort Of boasts a whopping 7.1 out of 10 stars and a 100% average Tomatometer (supported by an 84% average audience score). 

Its season three hasn’t been offered a premiere date but might launch in early 2023.

What’s ‘Sort Of’ About?

HBO Max’s Sort Of chronicles the story of Sabi Mahboob, a transgender teenager in a large Pakistani family. Over the last season, the show has displayed Sabi as a bartender, and bookseller, and recently striving to fulfil his responsibilities relating to his family. 

The previous season saw Sabi trying to maintain healthy relationships while embracing various transformations.

Who Created ‘Sort Of’?

Sort Of is a co-creation between Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo, alongside co-chief producers Julia Sereny, Jennifer Kawaja, Ian Iqbal Rashid, Bruno Dube, and Laura Perlmutter. 

The show is produced by Elise Cousineau, Andrea Glinski, and Jessica Daniel from Sienna Films Production Company. 

Bilal Baig had some words concerning the show’s renewal for a third season: “We are so happy that we can return to the worlds of Sort Of and to keep watching different characters unfold into a new season. With an addition of new faces, Sort Of continues to investigate the real meaning of friends, family, love, and life at large.”

When the previous season of Sort Of premiered some weeks ago, the creators had fans hoping for a third season. “It’s been such a pleasure to dive deeply into the messy lives of Sort Of characters in the second season. I look forward to resuming and widening the mess,” Baig adds.

Who are the Cast for ‘Sort Of’?

Although the upcoming season might have a few new faces, some will remain in pivotal roles, including Bilal Baig (Sabi Mahboob), Amanda Cordner (7ven), Gray Powell (Paul), Gregory A. Calderone (Lewis), and Grace L. Kung (Bessy). 

Others are Kaya Kanashiro (Violet) and Ellora Patnaik (Raffo).
