DRAM Releases New Album Titled 'What Had Happened Was...'
DRAM released his latest album 'What Had Happened Was...' under his new indie label WAVER Records on Friday.
The album marks the return of DRAM, also known as Shelley, to the world of music
The mammoth 19 track long album sees the artist return to his soulful blend of singing and rapping to some unique melodies.
The project's strength is in the honesty and vulnerability released by DRAM on the album, where he talks about struggles with mental health, grief, the down sides of fame and fortune as well as using past traumas to better himself.
The album will allow a lot of listeners to relate to the artist and judging by many fans' reactions online, the EP is going down a treat.
The release marks DRAM's third studio album, and his second under the DRAM moniker.
The German born crooner burst on to the music scene in 2016 with his album 'Big Baby DRAM' and was well received thanks to his unique style.
That project followed the rapper's success with the hit single 'Cha Cha,' and songs like 'Cute,' 'Broccoli,' and 'Cash Machine,' ensured 'Big Baby DRAM,' was awarded gold status by the RIAA thanks to its sales.
Last year the artist released the album 'Shelley FKA DRAM,' performing as Shelley and saw him switch styles somewhat.
His intention in switching to his birth name of Shelley was to distance himself from his hit song 'Broccoli,' which features Lil Yachty.

Nevertheless, the artist is back to his old style with this new album and will be looking to see some of the success he enjoyed in past years.
Recently DRAM spoke to the US based media organisation TMZ and talked about confronting Drake about ripping off his 'Cha Cha' beat for the Toronto star's 2015 hit song 'Hotline Bling.'
DRAM recalled a physical confrontation between he and Drake and his security team at a Coachella party in 2017.
He said that the security team beat him after escorting him outside, but said that must mean Drake feels threatened by him.
The interview came after Drake recently took shots at DRAM in his new collab album 'Her Loss,' with 21 Savage.
'Tried to bring the drama to me, he ain't know how we cha-cha slide...,' rapped Drake on the song 'BackOutsideBoys.'
DRAM conveyed that the feud doesn't bother him and that he is currently in 'love' mode, though he said he'd like to fight Drake to finally be done with the controversy.
