‘Meet Cute’ Synopsis

Imagine a low-cut Groundhog Day meets When Harry Met Sally film.

Sheila (Kaley Cuoco) is a suicidal woman who winds up at a nail salon that has a time machine as a tanning substitute. She travels back 24 hours every day to relive her date with Gary (Pete Davidson), a guy she met at a bar.

Each time she travels further in time to try to fix Gary's life, unaware that interfering with the past has grave consequences.

Is There a Trailer for ‘Meet Cute’?

You bet there's a trailer! Peacock released the preview video on September 8 2022, and up for grabs if you haven't watched it yet.

In the trailer, we see Sheila and Gary clapping eyes and experiencing love at first sight, seemingly their first meeting but actually their seventh.

Sheila looks psychopathic as every time she reverses the timeline, she hunts her old version and runs her over with her car.

The Film’s Mixed Reviews

Two days after its debut, Meet Cute rates 5/10 on IMDb, 50% on Rotten Tomatoes and 60% on Google Review.

Viewers are divided about Alex Lehmann’s film. Lehmann is also the man behind the more successful comedy-drama Paddleton (2019), which scored 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.1/10 on IMDb. However, top critics roasted this newest addition, criticising its empty loop.

The New York Times quotes, “The story’s logistical problems would be excusable if the jokes were actually funny.”

Guardian adds, “The lines must’ve worked on the page, and sometimes echo real flirtation. But well-timed rapport is not a substitute for charm nor enough to justify this empty loop.”

Meet Cute is a forgettable rom-com film that places legendary film actors between eye-rolling dialogues. You can either really love it or really loathe it. We'll let you be the judge of it after you sit through this one.
