In 2009, Rockstar Games did exactly that. At that year's E3 expo, they announced a game that was supposed to be exclusive to PlayStation 3. According to the information shared about the game, players would take on the role of an agent and embark on missions in different corners of the world. With Rockstar Games, the powerhouse behind series like GTA and RDR, involved, it was clear that the game would bring a new dimension to the gaming world.

However, after this announcement, while all eyes were on Rockstar Games, Agent disappeared into thin air.

Over the years, even though we have heard different statements from Rockstar Games about the game, the frequency of these statements has decreased, and two new console generations have come and gone on the PlayStation 3, where the game would have been exclusive. Rockstar Games, on the other hand, gave the players the message that the game was canceled by not renewing the naming rights, but we never heard an official statement from the authorized mouths.

However, we finally heard for the first time from a former Rockstar Games employee what Agent's fate is.

Obbe Vermeij, who worked at Rockstar Games between 1995 and 2009, talked about Agent and what happened to the game in a blog post. According to Vermeij, Agent was shelved, never to be re-filed, because the studio was working on GTA 5 at the time.

In fact, Rockstar Games has already started working on Agent, and even made progress.

Obbe Vermeij, mentioning that they worked on the game for over a year, recalls working on a skiing combat scene for the character. He notes that initially, to complete the game, they had to discard sections where we fought aliens in a part set in Cairo. Later on, the project was shelved to focus on the new game of the company's biggest IP, GTA.

Long story short, Rockstar Games killed Agent for GTA.

Despite the statements from former employees like Vermeij and the passing years, Rockstar Games has chosen to remain silent on the subject of Agent. In recent years, with the removal of the game from Rockstar Games' official website, Agent has officially been consigned to the dusty pages of the gaming world.
