Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Getting a Classic and Retro-Inspired Upgrade

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(TMNT) are getting their own game upgrades. The team behind the iconic game Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Dotemu, are set to launch a new game series based on the retro television via Steam. This was recently announced by Konami at a Sony’s State of Play Event.

The arcade beat-em-up game will include the classic villains Krang and Shredder with better combo utilization between the four turtles. According to the team developers, story mode and vehicles may be set to welcome in the following series. They also mentioned that familiar locations, such as the TMNT universe, which includes New York City streets and Dimension X, will be included.

They revealed that it will be included in the The Cowabunga Collection which will consist of other 12 previously released arcade games. Other games include SNES, Game Boy and Sega Genesis, and the  Turtles in Time and 2D fighter Tournament Fighters. The game was said to have better game features, online play, button mapping, rewind features, and improved texts  that will be released this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge are also set to launch later on. It includes the classic brawling mechanics, and pixelated 1987 TV show-based environment. The official dates have not been finalized yet but Master Splinter will surely be added to the roster. This groundbreaking gameplay is soon to be available with the help of the Tribute Games via Steam. Tribute Games were also responsible for other retro-inspired games such as Panzer Paladin, Flinthook, and Mercenary Kings.
