In recent years, Netflix has signed many local films by taking Turkish actors and producers on its radar and includes many projects on its platform by saying "I am also present" in Turkish cinema. One of these productions was the most popular movie of recent times, " Boğa Boğa".

Boğa Boğa, a collaboration between Hakan Günday, a sharp writer of Turkish literature, and Onur Saylak, premiered at the 41st Istanbul Film Festival and was available to Turkish audiences on the Netflix platform on April 21, the first day of the Eid holiday.
Hakan Günday adapted his own novel Daha as a feature film in 2017 and Onur Saylak was the director of this film. I can say that when the duo's minds come together, they come up with very interesting scenarios. Those who have seen Daha know that it is a unique and literally "shocking" movie with its editing and visual shots.
This time, the duo appeared with the movie Boğa Boğa, starring Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Funda Eryiğit. The genre of the movie, which is a Netflix work and produced by Ay Yapım, is psychological crime thriller.
Yalın and Beyza, a married couple, move to Assos to get away from Istanbul after a series of events that have turned their lives into a mess. In the scenes at the beginning of the movie, we see that Yalın's father actually owns a house here and the two settle here.

From the very beginning of the movie, we see that the locals feel hostility towards Yalın, sometimes openly and sometimes secretly. The reason for this is revealed one by one in the scenes that follow.
Yalın is the manager of an investment firm and the company he manages is investigated and sued. After 10 days in jail, Yalın is released while the judicial process continues and he and his wife Beyza go to Assos.
While Beyza sees moving to Assos as a second chance in their marriage, Yalın is more concerned with hiding from people. Because Yalın has hurt many people financially through his investment company. Including those who trusted his surname and invested in this seaside town he moved to...
This 'group of people who have hit rock bottom' is naturally very angry at Yalın and they all try various ways of revenge when they see the person who ripped them off.
We can say that the main theme of the movie Boğa Boğa is that the main character, who runs away from Istanbul to Assos to hide, is provoked like a bull (Boğa) and gradually loses himself.
The character Yalın, played by Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, gradually enters a paranoid state of mind after the cornerstones of the movie are in place. Turning into a man whose only goal in life is self-defense, Yalın attacks anyone and everyone like a bull in order to get out of the situation he is in.

Let's talk about Beyza, the other main character of the movie. While Beyza, played by Funda Eryiğit, was expected to be a dominant character in the movie, it would not be a lie to say that the production team neglected this character.
Except for the foreplay scenes at the beginning of the movie, Beyza's scenes are rather uneventful. Although she is the main character, she is left behind in her communication with her husband Yalın.
It is as if she was created only for the dialogues that marked the movie in the last 15 minutes of the movie. However, if the character of Beyza had been used at the top of the story, the story would have been stronger. But the purpose of the movie is to give a message rather than focusing on the characters.
As we approach the finale of the film, we see that the main message is a harsh criticism of the corruption in Turkey. When I saw the last scene, I even thought of the phrase "being a slave to money". This criticism is for all of us.
In general, We can say that the message that Hakan Günday and Onur Saylak wanted to give us with the movie reached its destination. If you have seen the movie, I am waiting for your comments!
