Orhan Tatar, General Manager of AFAD Earthquake Risk Reduction, made a statement about the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş.

''There have been over 100 aftershocks, three of them being 6.6 magnitude,' said Orhan Tatar, 'but another 7.6 magnitude earthquake centered in Elbistan just occurred in the same region within the borders of Kahramanmaraş. Both are independent of each other, earthquakes that trigger each other. The most important thing here is that there is a serious earthquake activity in the region. These aftershocks will continue for a long time''

We convey our best wishes to everyone affected by the earthquake.
