Billions concludes another season on April 10th, 2022. This popular series from Showtime had more than a few setbacks leading up to its sixth season release, but the showrunners pulled things together for another outing. Not only that, but Billions is also officially renewed for a seventh season. Whether it will be the last remains to be seen, since Billions Season 6 did not see the most positive reception. Here’s all there is to know regarding Season 7.

‘Billions’ Premise / Season 6

Billions follows the conflict between U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod, as Axelrod’s methods of high finance and wealth accumulation breach into prosecutable territory. Extra characters are woven in through subplots, but the main proceedings are the power struggle between law and multi-billion dollar crime.

The big talking point of the recent season was the departure of Damien Lewis, who played Axelrod. His character was written off the show (with the possibility to return, if needed), and his position as the leading antagonist was replaced by Corey Stoll, who first appeared in Season 5. Recent episodes continued the same basic premise, but Lewis’ absence is felt despite a quality showing from Stoll.

  • Maggie Siff - Wendy Rhoades

  • Corey Stoll - Mike Prince

  • David Costabile - Mike 'Wags' Wagner

  • Condola Rashad - Kate Sacker

  • Daniel Breaker - Scooter Dunbar

  • Sakina Jaffrey - Daevisha 'Dave' Mahar

  • Asia Kate Dillon - Taylor Amber Mason

  • Jeffrey DeMunn - Charles Rhoades, Sr.

Legacy of Billions

Billions has had its fair share of ups and downs, with consistently good ratings and reviews. Critics applauded the accurate environment created concerning the hedge fund industry, as well as its depiction of a non-binary character (played by Asia Kate Dillon) and BDSM practiced by Giamatti’s character. There have also been some allegations of copyright infringement and defamation, and the recent seasons have seen negative fan reception. Judging by the ratings, the show continues to move forward despite a handful of troubles, moving forward with Stoll’s character in the next season.
