Top 10 Fastest Cars In The World That Will Make Your Jaw Drop!

-

There are many ways to measure who is the king of automobiles, but top speed is surely the one everyone cares most about. Here are ten supercars that are the fastest production cars on planet earth.

1. Hennesy Venom F5 - 301 mph

The car can reportedly go from 0 to 249 to 0 mph in less than 30 seconds total.

Boasting a claimed top speed of 301 mph, the Venom F5 smashes the previous top speed figure by more than a school zone speed limit.

2. SSC Tuatara - 300 mph

SSC claimed the upcoming Tuatara would hit 265 mph, but when the company revealed its production-intent model at this year’s Concours d’Elegance, the figure in question had risen to 300 mph.

3. Koenigsegg Agera RS - 278 mph

While Hennessey’s Venom F5 claims it can do over 300 mph, Koenigsegg has actually demonstrated its Agera RS can put down an average top speed of 278 mph.

4. Hennesy Venom GT - 270 mph

With approval from the Kennedy Space Center, Hennessey recorded a top speed of 270.4 mph.

5. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - 268 mph

An impressive 1,200 hp and a slew of aerodynamic improvements helped the Super Sport to a top speed of 268 mph, clocked at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessein test track.

6. Bugatti Chiron - 261 mph

It took Bugatti a decade to develop the Veyron’s successor, during which time the top speed record changed hands a few times. Many anticipated the $2.7-million Bugatti Chiron would immediately reclaim the speed king crown, but things didn’t pan out that way. With 1,500 hp, the Chiron has plenty of firepower, yet its top speed of 261 mph falls short of even the Veyron Super Sport.

7. SCC Ultimate Aero - 256 mph

Shelby SuperCars (SSC) has nothing to do with Carroll Shelby of Cobra fame, but for a moment its Ultimate Aero was the fastest production car in the world. It reached a top speed of 256 mph back in 2007, beating the non-Super Sport version of the Veyron.

8. Tesla Roadster (Unverified) - 250 mph

This second-generation Roadster features the most impressive spec sheet of any EV before it — 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds, and a claimed top speed of 250 mph. In addition to the ridiculous acceleration and speed, Musk claims the Roadster will boast a range of 620 miles.

9. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo - 248 mph

Produced from 2000 to 2009, the S7 was America’s first mid-engined supercar. Producing 750 hp, the vehicle could hit 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds before smashing the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. Its most stunning statistic is its top speed of 248 mph, making it one of the fastest cars ever put to pavement.

10. Koenigsegg CCR - 242 mph

Swedish supercar builder Koenigsegg briefly held the “world’s fastest” title. Its CCR reached 242 mph at Italy’s Nardo Ring in 2005. Despite its impressive stats, the CCR’s moment in the spotlight was as brief as its claim on the world. It was soon supplanted by the CCX, and then by the current Agera. Koenigsegg says the Agera-based One:1 will top out at over 270 mph, but no one has tried it yet.
