No New Houses Have Been Built in This Village for Over 600 Years
In the enchanting village of Castle Combe in England, a population of 356 people reside. This picture-perfect hamlet, which could easily grace the front of a postcard, hasn't seen the construction of a new house for over 600 years. Efforts are ongoing to preserve the village's ancient charm and authenticity, which rivals that of a fairy-tale realm. According to historical records, the settlement dates back to 1086, with the castle that lends its name to the village being built in the 12th century. On the other hand, the village, reminiscent of scenes from storybooks, is affectionately referred to as the 'chocolate box village' due to its resemblance to images often found on chocolate boxes.
