Italy's most famous playboy has died aged 63 while having sex with with a 23-year-old tourist.

After becoming famous as a nightclub promoter in the 1970s, Maurizio Zanfanti slept with more than 6,000 women.

He suffered a fatal heart attack while he was entertaining a tourist from eastern Europe on Tuesday night.

The woman called paramedics immediately but he could not survive.

Italian media said it was was the way he would have wanted to go.

Zanfanti started his famous career at the age of 17 and he was working for a nightclub called Blow Up.

His job was to persuade young women in the street to come inside and back then he could sleep with around 200 women.

In 1986, Italian newspaper L'Espresso named Zanfanti 'Italy's most successful lover.'

In his final interview, he announced his retirement and told that he is getting too old for it at the age of 59.

Clearly, he failed to keep to his word.
