Polonezkoy Travel Guide: Best Places to Visit in Istanbul’s Green Getaway

Formerly known as “Adampol, ' this village was founded in 1842 under the leadership of Prince Adam Czartoryski, who lived in exile after the Polish Uprising of 1830. Still preserving its cultural identity today, Polonezkoy is one of the favourite stops for those who want to escape Istanbul and connect with nature.
While the breathtaking atmosphere of Polonezkoy comes alive in June and continues throughout the summer, there are also many places to see and things to do in the village. So, where should you go and what should you do in Polonezkoy? Here is your detailed travel guide...
A Short History of Polonezkoy

The roots of Polonezkoy date back to the 19th century. Founded in 1842 with Ottoman support, the village welcomed Polish immigrants who left their homeland after Poland was divided by its three neighbours. The writer Michal Czarkowski, who arrived in Istanbul in 1841, established the Polish representative office here and later converted to Islam and took the name Mehmet Sadık Pasha.
With the permission of Sultan Abdülmecid, today's Polonezkoy lands were allocated for the settlement of Poles who fought on the Ottoman side during the Crimean War (1853-1856). Mehmet Sadık Pasha leased these lands indefinitely and pioneered the establishment of a new life here for immigrants and military families.
