A social media user who lives with a furry friend shared the panic-stricken moments of their cat upon hearing the sound of drums and a traditional Turkish wind instrument in the garden of their site. Contrary to the exuberant crowd outside, the antics of the domestic tabby cat trying to understand the source of the sounds both amused and concerned the viewers.

Why are pets so afraid of loud noises?
Loud street parties, exploding fireworks, or sudden drum and zurna sounds can be a serious source of stress for many pets, especially cats. Cats' sense of hearing is far more developed than that of humans. Sounds that we find normal or entertaining can echo in their sensitive ears like a danger alarm. Unable to predict where the sound is coming from and whether it will harm them, their first instinct is to flee to enclosed areas, under couches, or high places where they feel safe. In such situations, not forcing them out of their hiding places, creating a calm environment at home, and leaving them to their own devices helps them navigate this process with less stress.
