Maritime work is a profession that is complex and demanding, both psychologically and physiologically. The months-long voyages in the middle of the sea transform maritime work from being merely a job to becoming a way of life. According to international maritime regulations, the maximum continuous stay on a ship is 11 months. However, standard contracts in the industry typically range from 4 months for officers to 6-8 months for crew members. At the end of this period, the company is obliged to cover all expenses to send the employee back to their homeland and to ensure they take their paid leave.

In case of a health issue, initial medical intervention is provided by officers trained in medical care on board the ship. If necessary, remote support is sought from doctors on shore. If the situation is serious, the ship is directed to the nearest port, or even an emergency evacuation by helicopter is carried out.
