Clayface Cast Stunned by Iconic Quote from Turkish Cult Series Ezel
DC Studios’ Clayface hit theaters in Türkiye on October 23 and quickly became one of the films moviegoers were following closely. The revenge story of Matt Hagen, whose face is left unrecognizable after an accident, drew comparisons to Ezel, one of Türkiye’s most beloved productions.
Sinemori sat down with the cast of Clayface and asked why we’re so drawn to a character who, after suffering an injustice, turns into a monster bent on revenge. The actors were then introduced to one of Ramiz Dayı’s most memorable lines from Ezel. “That line is perfect for Clayface,” they said, clearly taken with the iconic quote.

Ramiz Dayı is one of Ezel’s most unforgettable characters.
Ezel, which aired on ATV from 2009 to 2011, followed a young man who was wrongfully imprisoned and returned years later under a new identity to take revenge. Kenan İmirzalıoğlu starred in the series, while veteran actor Tuncel Kurtiz played Ramiz Dayı, Ezel’s mentor in prison. The fact that Ramiz’s lines are still shared on social media years later shows just how much viewers loved the series.
Matt Hagen, the lead character in Clayface, also has a face left unrecognizable by an accident and a body capable of changing shape. Both stories share a common thread: someone who has been wronged is drawn toward the dark side. The actors, too, spotted the connection between the two productions in a single line from the series.
