Cansu Dere's Then-and-Now Photos Get Fans Talking
Sila, Ezel, Anne, Sadakatsiz... Over the years, Cansu Dere has brought one memorable character after another to the screen. Now, as she gets ready to appear as Scheherazade in Binbir Gece Masallari (One Thousand and One Nights), photos of Cansu Dere then and now have caught viewers' attention, and the 46-year-old actress's look became a talking point once again.
Cansu Dere is behind some of Turkish television's most memorable female characters.
Cansu Dere became widely known for her lead role in Sila, then played Eysan in Ezel, one of the most talked-about characters in Turkish TV history. She went on to play Zeynep in Anne, Nevra in Sahsiyet and Asya in Sadakatsiz.
A fairy-tale role
In Binbir Gece Masallari, where she shares the lead with Ibrahim Celikkol, Cansu Dere plays Scheherazade, wearing period costumes and ornate accessories. The production, made for the streaming platform tabii, tells the story of Scheherazade, the figure at the heart of the famous tales.
Side by side, her earlier roles and her Scheherazade look put Cansu Dere's appearance back in the spotlight.
On one side, a frame from an earlier stage of her career; on the other, Scheherazade with braided hair and an embroidered headpiece. The costumes, hair and characters change, but the familiar expression on Cansu Dere's face stays the same.
