Inspired by a real-life incident in Ankara's Gaziosmanpaşa district in 1997, the movie was hailed as the toughest Turkish film ever made during the 26th Istanbul International Film Festival.
The plot revolves around a group of friends who are taken hostage by five strangers while visiting a bar, enduring torture and assault throughout the night.
According to Box Office Turkey, preparations have begun for the sequel to "Barda," one of Turkish cinema's compelling thrillers.
Directed by Hande Türkel, the sequel will feature Nejat İşler, Hakan Boyav, Serdar Orçin, and Volga Sorgu reprising their roles. The second installment, returning to the silver screen after 17 years, is set to premiere on November 29, 2024.
