New $16K EV Hits the Market with an Impressive 845 Kilometer Driving Range
Chinese automotive giant SAIC's subsidiary MG has unveiled its new mid-size sedan model, the MG 07, at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show. With its aggressive starting price of $16,000, an electric range of up to 845 kilometers, and a total range capacity of 1,745 km in its hybrid version, the MG 07 is gearing up to reshuffle the deck in the world of automobiles.
As the competition in the world of electric vehicles heats up, MG, operating under the umbrella of SAIC, has officially launched its latest mid-size sedan model, the MG 07, in China.
The vehicle, which made its debut with both fully electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options, drew attention with its starting price of $16,000 (108,900 yuan), a striking contrast to the high-end technical features it offers.
The new MG 07 is truly raising the bar in its class with its range values.
The vehicle, offering battery packs of 67 kWh and 91 kWh in its fully electric versions, promises a pure electric driving range of 610 km, 650 km, and a whopping 845 km depending on the option chosen. The BEV models with an 800V architecture have motor options that generate 176 kW (236 hp) and 235 kW (315 hp).
The rechargeable hybrid (PHEV) version of the model practically makes you forget about the hassle of refueling.
The PHEV MG 07, a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, consumes only 2.91 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. This hybrid model, capable of covering 245 km solely on its battery, achieves a colossal range of up to 1,745 kilometers when both its tank and battery are fully charged.
The MG 07 showcases a rather sporty line with its exterior design, featuring frameless doors, a 5-stage electric wind deflector (spoiler), and semi-hidden door handles.
The vehicle's technology and interior features do not fall short of the luxury segment:
Autonomous driving and support systems backed by LiDAR integration and the Momenta R7 infrastructure.
A massive 15.6-inch floating screen running on the Inspiration OS operating system powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset.
On the passenger side, a zero-gravity seat named 'Queen', rear seat heating/ventilation, and a 21-speaker sound system.
The mCDC active electromagnetic suspension system that enhances smoothness on the road.
It has been announced that the delivery of models with a range of 650 km will commence by the end of August 2026, while the top version with a range of 845 km is planned to hit the roads in October.
