Sinan Özen In Highway Crash After Tokat Concert: “Thank God We Are Fine,” Says Brother
Turkish singer Sinan Özen's trip home to Istanbul after a concert in Tokat ended with a scare: the car he was traveling in was involved in a crash on the highway. The first word on his condition came from his brother Hızır Özen, who was in the same car.
Sinan Özen has been on Turkish stages for more than three decades.
Born on March 1, 1964, in the Çayeli district of Rize, Sinan Özen studied Turkish classical music at the Istanbul Music Academy and began his professional career in 1989 with the album 'Rüyalarım Olmasa.' Songs such as 'Al Beni,' 'Karlı Dağlar' and 'Çıldıracağım' won him a wide audience, and he has also appeared on screen in productions such as Arka Sokaklar.
Sinan Özen married Burcu Kartal in 2016, and the couple welcomed twins in 2020.
Hızır Özen shared the news on Instagram: “Thank God we are fine.”
The crash at the Sakarya toll booths
After his November 3 concert in Tokat, Sinan Özen set off for Istanbul. The car reached the Sakarya toll booths, one of the final stages of a journey of about 700 kilometers, when the crash happened. No detailed account of how it occurred has been given.
What his brother said
Hızır Özen, who is also the singer's manager, posted photos of the vehicles on Instagram with the note: 'The accident we had at the Sakarya toll booths on the way back from Tokat. Thank God we are fine.'
In the photos, the front of one vehicle is destroyed and the rear bumper of the other is shattered. Sinan Özen and Hızır Özen appear to have come through unhurt, though no statement from Sinan Özen himself has been reported.
