Meltem Akçöl Says Goodbye To Sevdam Karadeniz After Its Early Finale
Sevdam Karadeniz, the NOW series given an early finale, said goodbye to viewers with its fourth episode on Monday, November 2. Meltem Akçöl, who plays Zeyşan, marked the final night with an emotional farewell post on Instagram, writing about her sadness over how short the journey had been.
Meltem Akçöl wrote that she was saddened by how brief the Sevdam Karadeniz journey turned out to be.
The farewell came after a similar message from the male lead, Erdem Adilce. Meltem Akçöl wrote that the screen journey had been cut short for reasons beyond their control, but that in that short time they had found a friendship they might not have found in seasons of working together.
She also noted with regret that they could not offer an ending to the story of Zeyşan and Kuzey. She thanked Erdem Adilce, who plays Kuzey, along with the directors, the director of photography and all the cast and crew.
"We believe in a version in another universe where it was valued," said Meltem Akçöl.
The actress underlined the effort the team had put in. 'We made a wonderful piece of work, working without blinking and putting our hearts into it,' Meltem Akçöl wrote, before summing up her sadness about the early goodbye with the line about another universe.
She also expressed her gratitude to producer Banu Akdeniz's Mia Yapım for Sevdam Karadeniz, a series she said would always have a special place in her heart.
Meltem Akçöl said the series did not get its due in ratings "in this system" and thanked viewers.
The last part of the post spoke directly to viewers. Meltem Akçöl wrote that although the series did not find a ratings return 'in this system,' it had been warmly embraced on social media from the first episode. 'We saw support we will never be able to forget. Our minds are at ease, we received the reward for our work from you, our dear viewers,' she wrote, closing with: 'Tonight, Sevdam Karadeniz for the last time!'
A short run on screen
Before it even aired, the series made news when six actors, including leads, left the project. It opened on October 12 with a 2.11 in the Total ratings category, and the finale decision came after its second episode. The final episode drew 0.91 in Total, placing 34th, and the series left the screen without reaching the top 30.
Erdem Adilce, who plays Kuzey, also published a farewell message after the finale, addressing viewers 'not seen by the ratings devices.'
