Demet Özdemir Reportedly Cast Opposite Kerem Bürsin In Prime Video's Grand Maison İstanbul
Prime Video's new series Grand Maison İstanbul, adapted from the Japanese production Grand Maison Tokyo, has its female lead, according to a report by Birsen Altuntaş: Demet Özdemir will play Defne opposite Kerem Bürsin's chef Ateş. Filming for the DASS Yapım series is planned to begin in December.
Demet Özdemir is reported to be Grand Maison İstanbul's Defne.
According to Birsen Altuntaş, an agreement has been reached with Demet Özdemir for the female lead in the new Amazon Prime Video original. She will play Defne, a passionate cook.
The male lead, as previously announced, is Kerem Bürsin. He will play Ateş Leventoğlu, a chef whose rising career in Paris is suddenly shaken.
The role was first offered to Sıla Türkoğlu, known as Doğa in Kızılcık Şerbeti.
Birsen Altuntaş reported in August that the role had been offered to Sıla Türkoğlu. According to the report, Sıla Türkoğlu turned the offer down and the lead went to Demet Özdemir.
The project would be the next stop for Demet Özdemir after Eşref Rüya, the series she led with Çağatay Ulusoy. That show ended last June, and her character Nisan reached a wide fan base.
The actress, known for series such as Erkenci Kuş, Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir and Adım Farah, would this time appear on a digital platform as a chef.
Filming on the series adapted from Grand Maison Tokyo is planned for December.
Grand Maison İstanbul is the Turkish adaptation of Grand Maison Tokyo, which aired in Japan in 2019 and drew strong interest.
The story follows chef Ateş, who loses his reputation after a scandal at his Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris and returns to Türkiye. In Urla, he aims to reach three Michelin stars with a Grand Maison restaurant built from scratch, with Defne at his side on that difficult road.
The eight-episode DASS Yapım series will be directed by Umut Aral. Behind-the-scenes reports say filming is planned to start in December.
The series is also said to be positioned among the Amazon productions aimed at viewers outside Türkiye. Kerem Bürsin previously worked with Prime Video on the film Mavi Mağara.
