A diplomatic crisis has erupted over one of Netflix’s most popular series, Emily in Paris.
For those who have watched the show, it’s no secret that the series, set in France’s capital Paris for four seasons, has practically boosted the country’s economy.
The grandeur of the Parisian streets, fashionable people strolling through them, and, of course, romance, not only captured viewers' hearts but also brought floods of tourists to France.
It was even observed that real estate investments in Paris increased.
However, a few months ago, we learned that the fifth season of Emily in Paris would be filmed in Rome.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed that they would fight to prevent the show from being 'stolen' by Italy.
Italy didn’t take long to respond to Macron’s remarks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri stated, 'Emily is much better in Rome. After all, the heart wants what it wants. Let Emily choose where she wants to go. Besides, doesn’t Macron have more pressing matters to worry about? I think he’s joking with comments like that.'
