Elçin Sangu And Ertan Saban Join Cast At Table Read For Show TV Series Cevher
Cevher, the new Show TV series that made headlines with a string of departures before reaching the screen, has moved a step closer to filming. Its cast, led by Elçin Sangu and Ertan Saban, sat down together for a table read before going in front of the cameras, and news of the session also brought the names of the wider cast to light.
The cast of Cevher, led by Elçin Sangu and Ertan Saban, gathered around one table for a read-through.
Announced as the Turkish adaptation of the French crime series HPI: Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, Cevher is produced by Fabrika Yapım for Show TV. Özgü Namal was the first name in talks for the female lead, but at the end of August it was reported that she had withdrawn because she was not satisfied with the script.
Around the same time, director Neslihan Yeşilyurt announced that she was leaving the series by mutual agreement over differences in the creative process, and Yüksel Aksu took over as director. Songül Öden then entered talks, but stepped back in early October, again citing concerns about the script.
The new leads
The uncertainty ended with Show TV's official announcement in mid-October, naming Elçin Sangu and Ertan Saban as the leads. Elçin Sangu, remembered as Defne in Kiralık Aşk, returns to a national channel series after about four years to play Cevher, a highly intelligent mother of three. Ertan Saban, known for Gelsin Hayat Bildiği Gibi and Kötü Kan, plays Mert Kara, a successful and disciplined police detective.
Hasibe Eren and Sedef Akalın are also in the cast, while the premiere date has not been announced.
According to Habertürk, Elçin Sangu and Ertan Saban are joined by Hasibe Eren, Elit Andaç Çam, Anıl İlter, Sedef Akalın, Berna Cındıl, Alican Altun, Gökçem Çoban, Mert Özen, İlay Karataş and Rüzgar Eser. Which characters they will play has not yet been shared.
What the story is about
The story follows Cevher, a cleaner with an IQ of 160, who enters detective Mert Kara's life after spotting a critical detail in a police file that nobody else had noticed. The partnership between these two very different people will combine humor, mystery and emotion.
The script is by Burcu Yılmaz, with Öner Arslanel as producer and Salih Fahlioğulları as creative producer. As for the premiere date, the channel is saying only 'very soon' for now.
