Tolga Akış Fires Back at Critics of Manifest With a Strong Statement
Tolga Akış, the founder and manager of Manifest, refused to remain silent in the face of recent criticisms directed at the band members for being 'a bad influence on children'. Akış shared a lengthy statement on social media, expressing his displeasure at the band being judged solely on the basis of a single concert footage. Highlighting various aspects from the educational lives of the band members to their social responsibility projects, their artistic achievements, and the employment they have provided for thousands of people, Akış responded to the criticisms with a tone full of reproach, stating, 'Everyone sees what they want to see.'
As the brainchild, founder, and manager of Manifest, Tolga Akış has been involved in every stage of the band's journey from its inception to its present success. Following recent discussions about the group on social media, he has released a statement that has drawn considerable attention.
In the wake of the recirculation of footage from a concert in 2025, where children were not admitted, some users accused the members of Manifest of being a 'bad influence on children'. Responding to these allegations, Akış argued that the work the group has put forth to date has been overlooked.
Reminding that Manifest quickly drew attention not only with their music but also with their stage performances and large fan base, Akış stated that the group consists of educated, productive young people with a high sense of social responsibility. He expressed that the criticisms made were unjust.
Tolga Akış made the following statements in a post on his Instagram account:
From what I've gathered from the deliberate posts in recent days:
Girls; creating their own opportunities within limited means from different parts of the country to realize their dreams, they are 'not setting an example for children.'
In addition to their careers, they are tirelessly and without giving up, graduating with honors from the best universities and departments in Turkey, yet they are 'not setting an example for children.'
They set up scholarship funds and provide scholarships for hundreds of students who lack the means, working for their future; still, they are 'not setting an example for children.'
They incorporate the most beautiful motifs of our country into their music and videos, and that song becomes the best debut song in the world, yet they are 'not setting an example for children.'
They almost revolutionize the dominant harsh, pessimistic music in our country, bringing back positive feelings, joy, and dance after years; however, they are 'not setting an example for children.'
They work collectively, looking out for their comrades in every situation; they demonstrate the best example of rising together with brotherhood and friendship, but they are 'not setting an example for children.'
For the first time in recent years, they create a world where people from all walks of life, cultures, and views can come together under one roof, have fun together, dream together; yet again, they are 'not setting an example for children.'
With every job they do, every event they organize, they become a source of income for thousands of people; still, they are 'not setting an example for children.'
But with the deliberately cropped images of a single concert in 2025 where children were not admitted, Manifest is 'setting a bad example for children.'
Manifest has become such a thing that everyone sees what they want to see. However, for those who can see, there is much to be learned and discussed about our people and our country in Manifest.
Not everyone will love it, but it's important that everyone understands our intention correctly.
I hope we are understood.
