Officially up for sale is the island of Crevan, nestled in the Venice lagoon, boasting a military fortress from the Napoleonic era and lush gardens. The asking price for this historic oasis, which is smaller than a football field, is being kept as a colossal secret.
Situated just a few minutes by boat from the islands of Burano and Torcello, away from the hustle and bustle of Venice, the island of Crevan has stirred up the real estate market.
The island, marketed by renowned real estate giants Lionard Luxury Real Estate and Christie's subsidiary Dimora Italian Real Estate, stands out with its historical background and the privacy it offers.
Constructed in 1806 during the Napoleonic era by the French army as a strategic outpost against the Austrian Empire, the island has changed hands numerous times throughout history:
1815: It was transferred to Austrian administration.
1866: It was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy, becoming state property, and was used for military purposes until after World War I.
Present Day: After years of neglect, it was purchased and restored by a private property owner.
The historic Napoleon fortress, situated in the heart of the island, has now been transformed into a luxurious villa with four bedrooms.
Equipped with fruit and vegetable gardens, private lawns, a personal dock, and a helicopter landing pad, the island promises its owner a life isolated from the world.
Real estate company representatives describe the island as a 'space offering privacy and a massive landscape to be preserved,' while the asking price is kept confidential for serious buyers only. Considering that Isola Santa Cristina, an island in the lagoon owned by the heir of the Swarovski empire, was put up for sale for 24 million Euros in June, an astronomical figure is also expected for Crevan.
