"Love Bombing" Defense Fails in Court: Woman Ordered to Pay Back £40,000 to Firefighter Ex!
Firefighter Craig Titchener, who won a £200,000 scratch card prize in England, has taken his former girlfriend to court for the £40,000 he gave her. Former nurse Heather Douglass claimed that the money was a gift and that her ex-boyfriend had influenced her with 'love bombing.' However, the court, after hearing both sides, did not accept the 'love bombing' defense.

£200,000 Scratch Card Prize Turned into a Love Lawsuit
Firefighter Craig Titchener, living in England, won the grand prize of 200,000 pounds (approximately 12 million 700 thousand TL according to the current exchange rate) from the Winter Wonderlines scratch card he bought in 2019. Titchener gave a portion of the money he won to Heather Douglass, a nurse he was with at the time.
However, 11 months later when the relationship ended, the money given became a matter of dispute. Titchener stated that approximately 40,000 pounds out of the 45,000 pounds he sent to his ex-girlfriend was given for investment purposes. Asserting that Douglass was more knowledgeable in financial matters, Titchener claimed that his aim was to buy a house to live in with his children by investing this money.
Former nurse Heather Douglass, on the other hand, claimed that the money was a gift. Douglass said that her ex-boyfriend gave her expensive gifts and money to strengthen the relationship, and she considered this as 'love bombing'.
The Court Did Not Accept the "Love Bombing" Allegation
The court had previously ruled that a portion of £40,000 was given for investment purposes. In the latest hearing at the Central London County Court, Douglass's failure to provide the requested bank records was decisive. The court considered the failure to deliver financial documents on time as a serious violation.
Judge Charlotte Hart, therefore, decided that £40,000 (approximately 2 million 540 thousand TL according to the current exchange rate) should be repaid to Craig Titchener.
After the decision, Douglass left the hearing, which he attended via video link, saying, 'I disagree with this. Goodbye.' and cut the connection.
