Deniz Göktaş recently released his standup show titled 'Dead Sea' on his YouTube channel, which quickly garnered immense attention, reaching 9 million views in just a week. Following the show, an investigation was initiated against Göktaş. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which conducted the investigation, accused him of 'insulting the President' and 'incitement to hatred and hostility or humiliation of the public'.

In the wake of his arrest, messages of support for Deniz Göktaş came pouring in from the art world, one of which was from actress Farah Zeynep Abdullah. In a lengthy post on her X account, Abdullah not only addressed Göktaş's arrest but also made pointed critiques about recent operations against celebrities and related judicial processes.

'When called to give a statement, they conducted dawn raids to arrest people with known residences, even nursing mothers, accusing them of 'drug trafficking'. Despite having no rights to do so, they publicized people's messages and private photos, regardless of who they were. These actions were discussed here as if they were commonplace, and news was made of them. The medications people used, and so on, were written and talked about, as if it was anyone else's business.

While barons, murderers, thieves, those who truly destroy national values, traitors, and those who sell their countries are out there flexing their muscles, 'celebrity' arrest lists became a weekly staple in the media, and it seems like this trend will continue. It's an ongoing witch hunt.

Deniz Göktaş recently aired a great show. When she voluntarily returned to her country, I don't understand why anyone was surprised that videos and photos of her being handcuffed from behind were circulated. These shows are being conducted quite ostentatiously. I wish it would end, but it looks like it's going to continue. This is how the agenda is being occupied. And in this situation, it's justice that is being discredited.

Going to court to explain a joke is a hilariously absurd event in itself. I believe we are aware that we are witnessing a display of power. The government is doing this as a way to arbitrarily punish recognizable figures, completely disregarding the presumption of innocence. Is everyone not already aware that a couple of jokes won't cause any trouble for the entire Republic of Turkey? As they feed fear using the entertainment industry, sympathy for the targeted individuals grows even more. Yes, some people are being intimidated, but others are becoming heroes.

The phrase 'the artist is a mirror of society' is always discussed in a nonsensical way, as if artists are sent from somewhere else with a mission to educate society; however, an artist is someone who emerges from society, a direct product of it. Whatever the society is, so is the artist. Labeling artists who express their opinions and cause no real harm to anyone as terrorists, and trying to intimidate and suppress them, is the real disrespect to society.

I would like to think that Deniz Göktaş is showcasing her stance in a very logical way and probably having fun. She must have thought about all of this even before going through it. And I wish for her to regain her rightful freedom as soon as possible...

Let's even forget about the artists; my grandmother, who is over 80, had to give a statement because of a Facebook comment. The most surprisingly unpleasant thing for Deniz Göktaş must have been being made to meet with KK. My condolences for this unexpected incident. :( She probably wasn't surprised by being handcuffed from behind or getting arrested. We are experiencing such absurd things in this country that we are no longer surprised. Because as you know, the government has been in a special situation for the last 23 years...'
