Often when we think of love in our culture, we think of sex, sweaty bodies joined together, electric touch, or pillow talk--two lovers basking in the afterglow, surging with oxytocin. Many of us will spend our lives chasing that feeling, struggling to find someone that makes us feel that way for the rest of our lives. We move from one relationship to another, running at the first sign of trouble. Everything needs to be seamless, and they need to have all of the right qualities. Too many turnoffs, and it's not worth our time.  In sickness and in health are old terms used by a failing institution. We don't want to stick around and let someone ruin our lives. We feel no responsibility to do so. There's no stigma against divorce or breakups. Why be with someone when they're stuck in chemotherapy? Don't we have needs? What if the magic is gone and we're no longer attracted to them? Trade them in for someone younger. Kick them to the curb, never mind what they want. We matter too. But love isn't a feeling. It's not an orgasm every night and the perfect conversation every time you're together. We can't constantly sync up with the one that we care about. That will never happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is chasing a dream. True love takes work, and it doesn't fade because your spouse gained ten pounds or injured themselves. It about building something together, a life, a family, and success, and having a hand to hold in your last moments. There's nothing more rewarding than sharing your life with somebody.

The best thing about limited series is that they keep their stories short and ambitious without you having to commit to hundreds of new episodes.The finest miniseries of 2022 certainly kept it short and sweet and came in various genres, including biographies, dramas, thrillers to comedies, you name it. The biographical drama Theodore Roosevelt focuses on one of history's most compelling and youngest U.S. Presidents, who was a cowboy, conservationist, adventurer, and soldier, among other things. Other limited releases like That Dirty Black Bag and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey are dramas that tell deft stories all wrapped up in short episodes. And then there is a wide array of thrillers like The Patient, A Friend of the Family, Candy, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window just to name a few. Below is our list of the best new limited series that debuted in 2022 as per critic and audience ranking.

A sigh of relief for fans of the drama series The Sex Lives of College Girls as it gets a renewal for the third season on HBO Max. The news has brought so much joy to fans, with the rising number of shows that are getting cancelled by the streamer, including Batgirl, Raised by Wolves, Time Traveller’s Wife, Close Enough, and Gordita Chronicles. The Sex Lives of College Girls received its third season greenlight on December 14, 2022, a day before the second season finale episode aired. The show launched its second season on November 17th, generating 7.8/10 stars on IMDb, a 73% score on TV Guide, and a 94% average Tomatometer (in conjunction with the first season). ITV X, RTÉ Player, and Streamz have adopted the show for the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and Belgium, respectively.

HBO Max and CBC have granted a renewal to their captivating Canadian TV series, Sort Of, for the third season weeks after launching season two. Sort Of is a situation-comedy show that landed on CBC in November 2021 for the first season. HBO Max later picked up the series, representing the United States and aired its first season a week after it launched on CBC. Sky Comedy and Stan have also adopted Sort Of for the United Kingdom and Australia, respectively.

When HBOMax's parent company, WarnerMedia, merged with Discovery Inc earlier this year, we knew that there were going to be some changes. Discovery inherited a mountain of debt--more than $53 billion dollars--and the new CEO David Zaslav was promising to turn that number into $3 billion worth of savings. It was ambitious and terrifying.Fans knew that some of their favorite shows were going to be canceled, and many of them were already in limbo. Campaigns sprouted up all across the internet. Suddenly bots and desperate fans were replying to every Tweet in sight, begging HBO for mercy. Viewers had spent so long gorging on what seemed to be an infinite buffet of quality programming, and they weren't about to let that end without making their voices heard. HBO was ruthless. As of today, they've removed more than 80 titles from their lineup. Westworld is gone. The Nevers is no more. Even cheap reality shows like FBOY Island and Finding Magic Mike were taken down, and many people believed that they were safe. The loss was overwhelming. But nothing was felt more succinctly than the loss of Raised By Wolves.
