With the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Palestinians unlawfully detained in Israeli prisons have begun to be released. Most recently, 1,968 Palestinian prisoners were released in exchange for 20 Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Ekrem el Basyuni, who has been imprisoned in Israeli dungeons since 2023, detailed the tortures he had endured. Ekrem el Basyuni, one of the prisoners released following a ceasefire, was detained by Israel in a school in Jabilieh in 2023.

As reported by NTV, citing Skynews, Ekrem el Basyuni described scenes of systematic torture, humiliation, and death in detention centers. Basyuni, who spent two years in Israeli prisons, recounted, 'Many of our friends were beaten to death. When we cried out to the guards for help, they coldly responded, 'Let him die.' Five minutes later, they would take away the body, wrap it in a bag, and shut the door.'

"They were pouring boiling water over the prisoners until their skin peeled off."

Basyuni reported that prisoners were routinely subjected to torture, beaten with batons and fists, attacked by dogs, and gassed during what the guards referred to as a 'welcome ceremony.'

'They beat us so brutally that our ribs broke,' Basyuni said, adding:

'Hot water was poured onto the faces and backs of young men until their skin peeled off. We sat on cold metal floors for days, and were even punished for asking for help.'

"They tore up the Quran right in front of the prisoners"

'They cursed our Prophet, tore the Quran in front of us, and insulted our mothers and sisters with the most offensive slurs,' Basyuni stated, and then continued:

'They claimed our families were dead. They said 'There is no such place as Gaza.' They declared 'We killed your children.''
