Will Visa Free Travel to Germany Begin for Turks?
A new era is unfolding in the economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Germany. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat highlighted a significant decrease in Germany's visa rejection rates, referencing the Schengen visa. On the other hand, Bolat also drew attention to visa-free travel, emphasizing, 'We once again underscored our legitimate demands for visa-free travel for our Turkish citizens.'

The 6th term of the Turkey-Germany Economic and Trade Joint Committee (JETCO), along with roundtable meetings attended by representatives of the business world from both countries, took place at the Ministry of Trade.
Trade Minister Ömer Bolat indicated that they discussed the visa issue in their meetings with Katherina Reiche, the German Minister for Economy and Energy.
Highlighting that visa rejection rates have decreased, Bolat stated, 'Visa rejection rates have fallen from 25 percent to 14 percent. At this point, they (the German side) are planning to expedite the matter related to business people, students, artists, members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and freight carriers.'

Minister Ömer Bolat announced that there have been positive developments in visa applications following diplomatic and commercial contacts with Germany. He emphasized that, thanks to the 'Cascade Gradual Visa Application' in effect since July 2025, there has been a significant ease in appointment and application processes.
Minister Bolat stated, 'We once again underscored our legitimate demands for visa-free travel for our Turkish citizens. They clearly expressed their support for the update of the Customs Union in terms of EU issues.'
Bolat continued his words as follows:
'Especially in a period when protectionist winds are gaining speed worldwide, they clearly stated that they will adopt an attitude that will prevent damage to the economic relations between Turkey and the EU and Germany, in various institutional and legal studies to transform industries in Europe and increase competitiveness. They are in favor of not harming economic, industrial, and commercial relations with Turkey.'
