Trailer Released for 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Series, Premiere Date Announced
The explosion of the live-action Star Wars TV universe began with the late-2021 premiere of The Book of Boba Fett and continues into 2022 with the official release date of Obi-Wan Kenobi. One of six new shows announced, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be the next to grace the Star Wars collection on Disney+.
'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Background
Here are the events surrounding the Obi-Wan Kenobi show: in Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker completes his transition to become the evil Darth Vader under the guidance of the new Emperor. Vader will hunt all of the Jedi in the universe, the aftermath of which takes place in A New Hope, the first Star Wars film. Obi-Wan Kenobi shows the time before the titular character meets Luke Skywalker as a young adult in A New Hope.
What Will Happen in 'Obi-Wan Kenobi?'
Only the premise is known so far, so the concrete details are only speculation. Obi-Wan is hiding on Tatooine, periodically checking on the safety of a ten-year-old Luke Skywalker. During this time, he also gets drawn into a conflict that leads to a new adventure for the character.

Aside from his debut as a writer/director in the 2007 film Awake, Joby Harold has primarily worked as an executive producer and occasional co-writer. On Obi-Wan Kenobi, he has co-writing credits on the six episodes. Deborah Chow also has only a few projects to call her own; this will be her first time directing a whole show, with only having the writer/director credit for the Zach Braff indie drama The High Cost Of Living.
