‘The Cleaning Lady’ is it Worth Watching?
Fox’s crime drama show The Cleaning Lady seems to drive a wedge between fans and critics.
With an above-average 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7/10 score on IMDb, The Cleaning Lady is seemingly good to watch. But is it totally worth looking into?
Let’s take a look.
'The Cleaning Lady' is One of the New 2022 Releases
The Fox crime drama dropped immediately at the onset of the year on January 3 2022, looking to lasso the audience from the get-go.
Its first season aired 10 episodes, focusing on the quick-witted Cambodian doctor Thony De La Rosa, who travels to the United States with her sick son for medical treatment. Sadly, her visa expires, forcing her into hiding to avoid the U.S. system.
Attempting to survive, by all means, Thony becomes a cleaning lady for an institutionalized crime. She forms connections in the criminal underworld to guarantee her survival.
Is The Show Worth Watching?
Though The Cleaning Lady has been confirmed for a second run on the cable network, some people are still undecided about whether to watch its first season.
For someone who heavily relies on critic ratings to view a show, The Cleaning Lady may not be a great look. But the series has both positive and negative critiques. Radhika Menon of Paste Magazine claims to have enjoyed Elodie Yung’s performance as Thony noting her determination, grit and warmth.
On the other hand, The Hollywood Reporter’s Angie Han expressed The Cleaning Lady as a forgettable show that is 'too restrained to be properly soapy and too silly to be convincingly gritty.'
Audience Review
Most in the audience seem to disagree with critics’ negative reviews quoting the show’s relatable storyline of a mom who would do anything for her son.
In light of this info, I think The Cleaning Lady is worth watching, especially if you have nothing else in mind.
