'Senior Year' is an upcoming American comedy film about a high school cheerleader who comes up from a 20-year coma and returns to high school to try to reclaim her prestige and win the prom queen crown that she has yet to win.
Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, Jojo Rabbit) plays the starring role of Ruby in Netflix's film 'Senior Year.' Wilson is back in the spotlight with 'Senior Year,' following a year off in 2020 during which she shed 60 pounds. Rebel's first Netflix Original will be released on the streaming service. She did appear in Isn't It Romantic, but it wasn't available on Netflix worldwide.
People Behind The Movie ‘Senior Year’
For the first time, Alex Hardcastle (Grace and Frankie, Love, Simon) is directing a feature movie. The script is being written by Brandon Scott Jones based on a concept by Andrew Knauer and Arthur Pielli.
Executive producers are Jeremy Stein, Jake Wagner, and Jake Weiner. The film will be produced by Netflix and Paramount Players, a new subsidiary of Paramount Pictures that focuses on modern genre films from newer directors.

‘Senior Year’ Plot
The comedy is set in 1997 and tells the story of Ruby, the most popular girl in her high school. She’s the captain of the cheerleading squad, dating the quarterback and is well on her way to becoming the prom queen. Girls want to be her and guys want to be with her. She has it all — until she falls off the top of the cheerleading pyramid and goes into a coma. Fast forward 20 years later and Ruby finally wakes up from her coma as a 37-year-old woman. She goes back to her high school and tries to assume her role as the star of her school. Most of all, she is still set on winning the crown as prom queen.
