Olivia Rodrigo Predicted to Win Big at 2022 Grammys

Olivia Rodrigo, with seven Grammy nominations going into the April 3rd ceremony, is easily the biggest and brightest debuting star of 2021. SOUR has multiple of the most streamed songs in the world, despite being this artist’s first original collection of songs. With co-writing contributions from Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, St. Vincent, and Hayley Williams, and help from Conan Gray producer Dan Nigro, SOUR has all the hallmarks of an award-winning album. Here are the categories that Olivia Rodrigo received a nomination in, and if she has a realistic chance of winning any of them.

Record of the Year: “Driver’s License”

Will she win? Definitely!

“Driver’s License” has been so ridiculously pervasive since its release, and just barely beats “Montero” for the most streams of the nominees. Though the award will go to producer Dan Nigro, it will still be a highly sought-after honor.

Album of the Year: ‘Sour’

Will she win? Hopefully, but maybe not…

Rodrigo faces stiff competition in this category including the likes of Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, and Jon Baptiste. Eilish has seven Grammys, and Swift has eleven, making this category a tough one to predict.

Song of the Year: “Driver’s License”

Will she win? Very high likelihood!

The Grammy voters will probably be eager to give this award for Rodrigo’s songwriting abilities, but there are other good options for this category, making it slightly more uncertain. Though Rodrigo will most likely win, H.E.R. now has over 20 Grammy nominations, and the exquisite pairings of Doja Cat/SZA in “Kiss Me More” and Bruno Mars/Anderson .Paak in “Leave the Door Open” make for viable choices.

Best New Artist: Olivia Rodrigo

Will she win? Very high likelihood!

Olivia Rodrigo is pretty much a shoo-in for this category, but the voters culled a very interesting list of names for this year’s Best New Artist Category. Glass Animal and Japanese Breakfast (who are not really “new” artists) would be fun if unlikely choices to vote for, as would actual new artists Arooj Aftab and Arlo Parks.

Best Pop Vocal Album - SOUR

Will she win? Very high likelihood!

Unless Billie Eilish (or, by some cruel act of God, Justin Bieber or Ariana Grande) gets a nod, it’ll be Rodrigo for sure. Especially if she doesn’t end up with Album of the Year.

Best Pop Solo Performance - “Driver’s License”

Will she win? Probably, yes…

It’s been five years since Adele won both Song of the Year and this award, making for four times that someone has accomplished that in this award’s short lifespan. Still, looking at the nominees, Rodrigo stands a good chance to win.

Best Music Video: "Good 4 U"

Will she win? Probably, yes…

Last year’s winner was the biggest name choice of Beyonce, making for an easy decision. But if the voters spread things out by tapping Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, or honestly any of the others, it wouldn’t be too surprising.
