New Smart Shower Drains Outperform Old Round Systems
The era of traditional, circular drains standing in the middle of the floor is coming to an end in home renovations. 'Linear drainage systems', which completely transform both the engineering and aesthetics of wet areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, and balconies, have become the new darling of modern architecture.
These models, notable for their longitudinal design, not only provide a stylish appearance but also greatly simplify cleaning by accelerating water discharge. However, experts warn: proper installation is crucial to fully benefit from this innovative system.
Traditional round drains necessitate complex and multi-directional slopes in the floor to allow water to flow towards the center from all sides.
This situation often leads to unsightly cuts that mar the aesthetics, especially in large-sized porcelain tiles.
Linear drainage, on the other hand, directs water along a long strip. According to the technical data of Amanco Wavin, the greatest advantages provided by these systems are as follows:
Unidirectional Slope: The floor is sloped at a single angle only towards the side where the drain is located. This allows large-sized covering materials to be laid seamlessly, without disrupting their designs.
High Flow Capacity: The models, available in lengths of 50, 70, and 90 cm and a width of 5 cm, boast a high water collection performance of up to 30 liters per minute.
Hidden and Stylish Details: The modular structure, which can be mounted along the wall, transforms the drain into an invisible detail on the floor when combined with options of plastic or stylish AISI 304 stainless steel grates.

Difficulty of Subsequent Changes: In already completed structures where it is undesirable to break the floor, the use of round drains continues to hold its place as an economical alternative. This is because transitioning to linear drains later on requires high-cost renovation processes such as breaking the concrete, adjusting the pipe, and re-insulating the water.
